Blind Hockey
Blind hockey is an exciting adaptation of ice hockey designed specifically for athletes who are blind or have low vision. Using a larger, high-contrast puck that makes a loud sound as it slides across the ice, players rely on their hearing, teamwork, and spatial awareness to compete in a fast-paced and highly skilled game.
At the Michigan Blind Athletic Association (MBAA), we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the thrill of hockey. Whether you’re stepping onto the ice for the first time or are an experienced player looking to sharpen your skills, our blind hockey program provides a welcoming and supportive environment for athletes of all ages and ability levels.
Practices focus on developing skating, stickhandling, passing, shooting, and game strategy while building confidence, independence, and lasting friendships. Players are coached by experienced volunteers and athletes who are passionate about making the sport accessible to everyone.
Who Can Participate?
Our blind hockey program is open to individuals who are blind or visually impaired. No previous hockey experience is required—we welcome beginners and experienced players alike.
